Sanding the Back of the Neck – My Relic Project Part 2

Here’s the next step in my little Relic Project that I am currently undertaking. In this video I share how I am going to sand the poly finish off the back of the neck of my Aria Pro II Strikin Sounds, which is a 1980ish made in Japan copy of a 1954 Fender Stratocaster.

The sandpaper I am using in the video for removing the initial layer of poly coating off the back of the neck is a small piece of 120 grit wet and dry paper, no bigger than the size of my palm.

I am really trying to simulate years of playing by not sanding further up or down the neck than your hand would go by regular playing.

After I shot this video I sent the guitar to Mick Gentry to replace the nut, once I get the guitar back I will finish sanding off the back of the neck and start doing the finger marks on the fretboard.
