The other day while I was at Darren’s doing some videos, I thought I would like to see how the Big White Monkey Spider 808 Overdrive Pedal fared when it was put up against the much higher priced Ibanez TS9DX Turbo Tube Screamer.

Now admittedly the Ibanez TS9DX Turbo Tube Screamer has four different tonal settings and the Big White Monkey Spider 808 only has the one, seeing how it’s based on the original specs of the Vintage Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer, so you’re not going to get all of the different variations with the Big White Monkey pedal, but I personally found the Turbo Tube Screamer wasn’t really that usable on the Turbo and Hot settings anyhow, but I did like how the TS9 and + settings sounded though.
So personally for me I thought the Big White Monkey Spider 808 was just as good as the Ibanez, and at almost a third of the price it was a no brainer.
So seeing how I buy all of the gear that gets reviewed on Guitar Gas I decided to keep the BWM Spider and sell off the Ibanez and use the money to buy something else that I can try out. So if you have any requests on any pedals you’d like to see us demo make sure you let us know by leaving a comment below.
