Ampeg GVT15-112 Tube Combo: Straight Up Tube Tone!

Wow, time goes so fast and unfortunately I have been way too busy to do many reviews, sorry about that! Anyway, I picked up a new friend the other day. It’s an Ampeg GVT15-112 tube combo, which is a 15-Watt valve amp, that can also be switched to 7-Watts thanks to its half-power, power amp mode. I got mine at a really good price, and straight up I must say that it has a bold, clear (but not overly bright) warm tube tone.

Anyway, Ampeg are better known for their bass amps, although in the 70s and 80s it released some well regarded tube amps for guitar as well.

Ceriatone 5E3 Tweed Deluxe – A Classic Re-incarnation

So it’s time to Look at another amp, and today it’s the classic circuitry of the Ceriatone 5E3 Tweed Deluxe.

In this first video, Darren is playing an Orville Les Paul Gold Top, the speaker cab is a 1×12 Fargen, loaded with a 70th Anniversary G12H Celestion. The overdrive pedal is a BWM Spider.

In this next video, Darren is playing a Tokai Silver Star. The cleans on this next video show how this amp can sound really chimey when combined with the single coils of the Tokai and the openness of the oversized Fargen cab. Continue reading →

Ceriatone JTM45 – Classic Rock Tone in the Key of ‘M’

Okay, so today we’re having a look at a very, very cool amp by Ceriatone. The JTM45. The JTM45 is a classic Marshall Clone, which is not as gainy as the later plexis, but it has great cleans.

First up a couple of vids. This first video, Darren is playing an MIJ Orville, Les Paul Gold Top, the speaker cab is a 1×12 Fargen, loaded with a 75th anniversary Celestion G12H. The distortion is a mids 90’s ProCo Rat
