Review of Throttle Twister by Barrett Tagliarino

This review of the album Throttle Twister by Barrett Tagliarino was first posted on, but seeing how I wrote it, I thought it was only fair that I get to post it here as well.

Hope you enjoy the review.

I loved this album from the first time I played it, and I would have to say that the last time I heard an album that I enjoyed this much would have to have been one of Bruce Dickinson’s solo albums. (Chemical Wedding)

This album from Barrett has such a unique sound to it, but at the same time brings back so many fond memories of my early metal and hard rock’n days as a young rocker.

With each of the licks played to absolute perfection, Barrett makes his guitar sound like any one of the great guitarists of our time, it is hard to believe that more people haven’t heard of Barrett.

The album itself covers a multitude of genres, from blues to metal and has some fantastic bass lines that add to the incredible melodies that Barrett plays on his guitar.

Since finding out about Barrett I have been going through some of his teaching books and I am amazed at how good his knowledge of music and the guitar is, and this CD is a great testimony of that skill and knowledge played out in a practical hands on arena.

If your into the guitar then I would be confident in saying that you will enjoy this album no end, it isn’t your typical Malmsteen/Satriani style instrumental album where all you hear is a constant barrage of high pitch notes played a million beats per minute, this album has a lot of character and distinct phrasing played into it, you can definitely tell that there has been a lot of thought and effort gone into producing these tracks.

One more thing that really impressed me about the album was the different tones and sounds that Barrett extracts from his instrument (pure guitar- not effects) and has included into each of the tracks, a wonderful example of using the guitar to it’s full potential.

Well done Barrett, can’t wait for the next album. 5 Stars.

You can purchase this album from Amazon in MP3 and CD formats, I thoroughly recommend it and have already suggested it to a couple of my friends.
